Datasets
The London Board’s Dataset Project forms part of the response to the Priority Review of LSCB implementation (DfES). Performance management was identified as a key issue, and this project seeks to support London LSCBs to develop the quality of their monitoring and evaluation function.
Phase I of the Project commenced in July 2007 and established a common dataset for London LSCBs, which is currently being piloted in 10 London LSCB areas.
Phase II of the Project addressed the issues which arose in Phase I and took forward the development of a centralised data collation mechanism to ensure that local data can be useful on a pan-London basis.
Phase III of the Project has involved commissioning and delivering the online data collection system which will allow LSCBs to upload their own data and draw down reports on a local and pan-London basis. The dataset from the 10 pilot LSCBs has been incorporated into a centralised database, administered by the London Board and funded by GOL.
The online resource was commissioned from 360 Systems Ltd and an information and training session on the new system was held on 1 December 2009, involving LSCB Development Officers and performance managers from the pilot boroughs.
The system underwent testing from January to March 2010 and went live to pilot LSCBs in April 2010. This will allow pilot LSCBs to upload and benchmark data year on year and against other LSCBs.
The upload of 2009/10 data is taking place in July 2010. Enahncements to the system (see below) are currently being finalised alongside this and the resource will be rolled out to all London LSCBs in September 2010, pending successful completion of the pilot.

ENHANCEMENTS
The following enhancements are currently being implemented as a result of feedback from the initial pilot phase:
- Statistical Neighbours - Ability to set up multiple statistical neighbours.
- Create Report multi-select - The user is presented with a checkbox list of indicators, enabling quick selection and de-selection.
- Provisional Indicator - Identify on graphs where numbers are made up of provisional data.
- Input Order - Input ordered by NI rather than SG number.
- Report: Trend per Authority - Trended data report per Authority over the years.
- Indicator Definition: Ethnicity - Ethnicity should compare against the population. Add ethnic breakdown per Authority.
These enhancements will be ready to test on 16th July 2010 and issues logged via the tracker described above.
