Gangs / Serious youth violence
Following a number of requests to respond to the needs of children affected by gang activity and/or serious youth violence in London, the London Safeguarding Children Board has been working with the Youth Justice Board, London Serious Youth Violence Board and a multi-agency practitioners steering group to produce a supplementary safeguarding children procedure to assist professionals working with this increasingly common issue.
A draft document was widely consulted on earlier in 2009, with feedback incorporated by the Board’s multi-agency editorial group. The final version has been approved by the London LSCB Chairs group, and received joint sign off from the London Safeguarding Children Board and the London Serious Youth Violence Board in late October 2009 .
The London procedure for safeguarding children affected by gang activity and / or serious youth violence is now available via the link below for local use.
